SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – The Western Community College Area Board of Governors selected Mr. Greg Dart as the seventh president of Western Nebraska Community College.
Karen Anderson, chair of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee and Board of Governors vice-chair said that Dart's experience with rural institutions and passion for the local community made him a strong candidate.
“Mr. Dart has the experience and leadership qualities that the Search Committee and our Board was looking for to lead our institution,” Anderson said. “He has a strong passion for leading a rural community college as well as the ability and knowledge to work with the communities in the service area, business leaders, and elected officials to not only elevate WNCC, but the entire Panhandle. We are excited to welcome Greg to WNCC and look forward to working with him.”
Dart has been chief campus administrator at Utah State University Eastern in Price, Utah since 2018. Prior to that, he served as the vice chancellor of student affairs & enrollment management from 2014-2018, and the director of enrollment services from 2012-2013. Dart has also held roles as the vice president for student services at Zane State College in Ohio; the director of admissions, scholarships, and communications, and associate professor of communications, both at Snow College in Utah.
"First, thanks to the Board of Governors, the search committee, and everyone involved for their tireless help and efforts,” said Dart. “Second, I could not be more excited to be joining the WNCC team and be a part of an institution that has limitless potential. In my time on the three campuses, it was great to meet dedicated and qualified faculty and staff, and I feel it an honor to be able to work with them."
Dart is finalizing his doctorate of education at Northeastern University, with all but his dissertation complete. He also has a Master of Education in Instructional Technology from Utah State University, a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Communications from the University of Alaska-Anchorage, and an Associate of Science from Snow College.
Dart was selected by the Board of Governors following an extensive, nation-wide search. The Presidential Search Advisory Committee was comprised of four members of the Board of Governors, WNCC faculty and staff, a WNCC student, and a community member.
Dart was one of three finalists the committee selected from a field of more than 40 applicants.
"WNCC was so fortunate to have large pool of qualified candidates and we were able to select three excellent candidates as our finalists," Anderson said.
The Board of Governors will vote to approve Dart's contract at the May 17 Board of Governor's meeting. He will succeed John Marrin, interim president, who held the position since June 2021.
