Business Technology - Executive Assistant I Option
WNCC’s Executive Assistant I program will prepare you to directly enter the workforce
in entry-level positions. You will be qualified for careers as an administrative assistant
and communications/information assistant.
These careers are normally in an office setting requiring you to be proficient at
a variety of computer software programs, keep calendars of executives, assist employees,
and maintain the needs of the office. This is a great way to gain experience in an
office setting to launch your career in business.
Business Technology - Executive Assistant II Option
Upon successful completion of WNCC’s Executive Assistant II program you will be prepared
for an entry-level executive assistant position with a special emphasis on project
management and office management.
This option will give you the critical and analytical-thinking skills needed to advance
your career and responsibilities as a project or office manager. These careers are
mostly in an office setting requiring you to work at a desk and have proficient knowledge
of common computer software programs. You may have an assistant to supervise and you
often have multiple roles to administer, such as managing human resource paperwork,
depositing checks, trouble-shooting computer issues, among many others on top of your
executive assistant duties. WNCC’s Executive Assistant II program will give you the
background you need to succeed regardless of what tasks you are given to complete.
Business Technology - General Business Option
If you’re looking to break into a business career, WNCC’s General Business degree
program will prepare you to enter the workforce immediately upon graduation. Depending
on the concentration you choose, you will be qualified for careers in medical office
management, business information technology support, database management, technology
project management in business or education, and many more.
This degree program is the perfect way to gain the computer and critical-thinking
skills you’ll need for today’s business careers. With these careers, you will work
primarily in an office setting using computer software programs such as document creation
programs, spreadsheets, email platforms, and PDF readers. Schedules are usually routine,
but you may need to extend your hours if you have deadlines to meet. You will be an
integral part of a company’s success and the acumen you will gain from WNCC’s programs
will make you a respected and valued team member.
Business Technology - Information Technology Technical Support Option
Through the IT Technical Support program at WNCC, you will gain the necessary background
in technical support to either enter the workforce or to continue your education at
a four-year institution. After you successfully complete the program, you will be
able to pursue careers such as a systems analyst, maintenance engineer, help desk
operator, network administrator, and application support specialist, among others.
A career in an IT technical support position requires communication skills and a desire
to work with each user to get accurate information on the issue they are experiencing.
It requires patience, the ability to assess a user’s skills, and the ability to ask
the appropriate questions for the support needed at the user’s skill level. You will
be responsible for assisting with software and hardware trouble-shooting, sometimes
remotely. These careers require a lot of time in front of a computer, and if on site,
can require a lot of moving, installing, and repairing computer equipment. While work
schedules are mostly set, you will be asked to work during hours most employees are
not working, to install software and software updates or fix hardware issues. You
will be an essential part of a successful business keeping their technology systems
running smoothly.
Business Technology - Medical Office Management Option
You will be prepared for a position in today’s medical offices upon successfully completing
WNCC’s Medical Office Management program. This program will give you the skills and
foundation to be successful in the world of medical office management, coordinating
budgeting, and medical and staff records maintenance.
Some careers you can enter with a certificate are medical office bookkeeper, medical
records clerk, hospital admitting clerk, medical administrative assistant, insurance
biller, and several others. These are in-demand careers that will allow you to break
into the world of healthcare quickly. You will work in an office setting or hospital
admittance room, usually inputting information into a computer, working with other
medical and healthcare staff, and often working with patients. Positions can be both
full- and part-time and schedules are typically set to specific times, but can have
an offset schedule with shifting days and times.
Business Technology - Staff Accountant I Option
The Staff Accountant I certification will prepare you for entry-level accounting jobs.
You will emerge from the program with knowledge in areas such as individual income
tax, spreadsheets, microcomputer applications, and more.
Entry-level positions with this certificate include auditing clerk, accounting assistant,
financial reporting clerk, collections clerk, and others. You’ll work under the supervision
of a bookkeeper or company accountant using business accounting and banking software
programs to record, analyze, and trouble-shoot a company’s finances. Work days typically
have a set schedules and require you to work with computers, calculators, complete
financial paperwork, and keep company finances confidential. These positions can be
full- and part-time, and possibly flexible, depending on the employer.
Business Technology - Staff Accountant II Option
The Staff Accountant II certification will not only prepare you for entry-level accounting
jobs, but will also give you important management skills. You will complete the certification
as a National Certified Bookkeeper and gain essential knowledge on records management.
This is useful if you want to start your career in accounting as soon as possible
while including skills for potential advancement. This is also perfect if you need
basic accounting skills for a small business venture or are looking to make a career
change into accounting.
Entry-level positions with this certificate include accounting assistant or technician,
bookkeeper, administrator of accounts payable and receivable, and others. You’ll work
with different accounting software programs and banking software, along with the programs
used by your business to record, analyze, and troubleshoot a company’s finances. Positions
have a set work schedule and require you to work with computers, calculators, and
complete paperwork. You may need to make trips to the bank and you will be required
to keep company finances confidential. These positions can be full- or part-time,
and can be flexible depending on the employer.
