Plumbing

Plumber Level I is intended for students interested in entering the plumbing industry. The program is designed to help students get an entry-level job as a helper, or with a goal of being a plumbing apprentice.

Training Program

In the 225-hour program, students will learn and become oriented to:

The Plumbing Profession
Plumbing Safety
Tools of the Plumbing Trade
Plumbing Math
Plumbing Drawing
Plastic Pipe and Fittings
Copper Tube and Fittings
Cast Iron Pipe and Fittings
Steel Pipe and Fittings
Plumbing Fixtures
Drain, Waste, and Vent (DWV) Systems
Water Distribution Systems

Students completing the program receive a NCCER Level I certification in Plumbing.

Start Date: August 1, 2023
End Date: December 16, 2023
Class Days:

Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Student Requirements:

Complete a Construction Trades application.
Attend the student orientation on Saturday, July 29 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the John N. Harms Center, 2620 College Park, Scottsbluff.
Students will need access to a computer and internet for homework and studying.
Tools – the required tools list will be provided at registration.
A desire to learn and enter a great new career as a plumbing professional.

Electrical

Electrical Level I is intended for students interested in entering the electrical field to maintain electrical systems and equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The program is designed to help students get an entry-level job as a helper, or with a goal of becoming an electrical apprentice.

Training Program

In the 192-hour program, students will learn and become oriented to:

Safety for Electricians
Electrical Circuits
Electrical Theory
National Electrical Code
Device Boxes
Hand Bending Conduit
Wireways, Raceways, and Fittings
Conductors and Cables
Basic Electrical Construction Documents
Residential Wiring
Electrical Test Equipment

Students completing the program receive a NCCER Level I certification in Electrical.

A desire to learn and enter a great new career as an entry-level electrical professional.

General Carpentry

General Carpentry is intended for students interested in entering the carpentry trade, and designed to help students get their foot in the door as a helper or apprentice.

Training Program

In the 250-hour program, students will learn and become oriented to:

Orientation to the Trade
Safety in Construction
Building Materials and Fasteners
Hand and Power Tools
Construction Plans and Documents
Principles of Site and Building Layout
Floor Systems
Wall Systems
Roof Framing
Building Envelope Systems
Basic Stair Layout

Students completing the program receive a NCCER Level I certification in General Carpentry.

Class Days:

Tuesdays and Thursday, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Student Requirements:

Complete a Construction Trades application.
Attend an orientation.
Students will need access to a computer and internet for homework and studying.
Tools – the required tools list will be provided at registration.
A desire to learn and enter a great new career.

HVACR

HVACR Level I is intended for students interested in entering the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration industry and designed to help students get an entry level job as a helper or apprentice.

Training Program

In the 202.5-hour program, students will learn and become oriented to:

Basic Principles of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Trade Regulations
Trade Mathematics
Basic Electricity
Fundamentals of Heating Systems
Fundamentals of Cooling and Refrigeration Cycles
Air Distribution Systems
Basic Copper and Plastic Piping Practices
Soldering and Brazing
Basic Carbon Steel Piping Practices

Students completing the program receive a NCCER Level I certification in HVACR and will be eligible to sit for the EPA-608 refrigerant certification exam.

The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) is the leader in construction and maintenance curriculum leading to portable credentials. WNCC is an accredited training sponsor.

Completion of NCCER CORE: Introduction to Basic Construction Skills is required prior to enrollment in Electrical Level I, HVACR Level 1, General Carpentry, and Plumbing Level 1.
