A Mathematics degree at WNCC will give you the foundation you need to transfer and
pursue a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Math Education at a four-year
institution. Many students choose to continue beyond a bachelor’s degree to pursue
a master’s degree in order to further broaden the scope of their knowledge and open
more opportunities.
There’s so much you can do with a degree in math. The analytical and problem-solving
skills you obtain, along with the critical- and independent-thinking you develop,
all give you the intellectual building blocks to pursue almost any career you want
to have. While more specific education may be needed depending on what you choose,
you’ll find your options are almost limitless, from aerospace to biotechnology and
everything in between.
There are typical careers for math majors like finance/banking, teaching, data research,
technical and financial consulting, statistician, patent law, and economics. And there
are also careers you may not have thought of, such as any of those within engineering,
computer programming, model designing, geodesy, architecture, cryptographer, fraud
investigator, market researcher, and meteorology, are just a few of the pathways available
to you with a strong math background. Your degree in math gives you an abundance of
options so you can choose the career path that best suits you.
