Physics explores the mechanics behind how and why things move, and how matter, energy, and natural forces exist and relate to each other. WNCC’s Physics program is offered at our Scottsbluff Campus, and will give you a comprehensive understanding of the principles and skills related to physical science. Our program is designed to help you succeed in your educational goals, whether you wish to enter into a technical or professional career in physical science, or to obtain a general understanding of the physical world.

A Physics degree from WNCC is your first step toward a career in physics. You will want to obtain a bachelor’s degree in this field, if not more, as this degree requires some of the highest levels of math in order to help solve the problems you’ll encounter in your career.

Physicists are in high demand as careers in physics can be found everywhere, from research facilities to businesses to television news stations. Likewise, careers can vary drastically from working with subatomic particles to galaxies millions of lightyears away. You can also work with businesses, non-profits, and architecture firms to design safe products and buildings, counter climate change, and even further research on diseases such as Alzheimer's.

Just a few of the careers available for physicists are Nuclear Physicist, Forensic Firearms Examiner, Volcanologist, Astronomer, Structural Engineer, Meteorologist, Materials Engineer, Quantitative Research Analyst, Educator, Acoustical Engineer. As you can see from this list, where you work depends on your chosen career. You could be on the side of a volcano, in a laboratory or office, or at a particle accelerator.
