You’ll have the opportunity to continuously learn and bring new art techniques into your classroom, and be creative on a daily basis. As an art teacher, you will spend time preparing for and cleaning up after students creating the art assignments you give them. You’ll also need to develop your lessons, grade students’ work, meet with parents, work with school administrators, and take on additional tasks such as monitoring recess and after school programs. While some parts of teaching will become routine, each day will be different from the next. It can be challenging at times, but you will find it rewarding seeing a student’s talents come into fruition under your encouraging direction.

Biology Education gives you the fundamentals in the biological sciences so you can effectively bring the wonders of the living world into your classroom. Teach students about the structural makeup of DNA, how genetic mutations occur, the anatomy of an octopus, how plants create energy from the sun, and so much more. Biology teachers need to spend time setting up and cleaning up lab experiments for their students, along with creating lessons, grading homework, tests, and other assignments. As a teacher during the school year, you’ll work long days creating and finishing everything you need to do in order for your students to successfully complete your biology class. You’ll also need time to meet with parents and school administrators, and take on other tasks, such as supervising study hall or tutoring students. You will be a motivator, a mentor, and a listener to your students. While teaching can be demanding, it is also highly rewarding to see students engaged and interested in a subject that can lead to a fulfilling career of their own.

With all of the work you will put into being a teacher, seeing your students improve their knowledge in a subject, having students ask questions that challenge you, and knowing at least some of your students will continue to pursue the subject for their career makes it worth all of the effort!
