The TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program’s mission is to increase academic success, persistence, graduation, and transfer to pursue advanced degrees and to increase cultural enrichment.

What is TRIO?

College can be one of the biggest challenges of our lives. TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is here to provide all the support you need during that journey.

Qualified students have access to academic tutoring, personal advising, mentoring, financial guidance, and other necessary support services. TRIO, which is a set of federally funded college support programs, is focused on promoting educational access and retention.

Who can join?

Any first-generation college student (neither parent has a four-year college degree)
Students who meet income guidelines set by U.S Department of Education
Students diagnosed with a physical or learning disability
Students with an academic need for services
Qualified veterans
Legal residents of the United States

What free services are available?

Tutoring in math, science, psychology, and other subjects
Supplemental Instruction (peer-led study groups)
Lunch workshops for students to help with study skills, time management, and financial topics
Success coaching
Academic and transfer advising
Supplemental grant aid
Access to a computer room with free printing
Campus visits to four-year colleges
Opportunities to participate in leadership, cultural, and social events
Scholarship and financial assistance
Services for veterans

How do I apply?

After gaining admission to WNCC, students should complete, sign, and return the TRIO application to:
